Abstract

Another monumental book by Nassim Nicholas Taleb antifragile: things that gain from disorder was published in 2014.This work has a lot of original ideas deserving the closest attention of the social scientists. It presents the general scheme of evolving systems under stress, describes the risk concentration effect, the risk transfer effect, and the hipercompensation effect. The algebra of chaos, the phenomena of asymmetry, nonlinearity and optionality play a particularly important role in the new doctrine. The formalization of Taleb’s criterion with respect to the decisions taken allows its wide practical implementation. The author has both improved Taleb’s concept and provided some criticism of its most controversial points.
